Birth of a drum

Medicine drums are shaped by a combination of traditional knowledge and expert craftsmanship to create their unique sound. They are carefully handmade in numerous steps, then individually dyed and delicately painted. The result is an authentic instrument that provides a powerful acoustic experience and offers blessings and knowledge to its future keeper. Hundreds of Medicine Drums have been sold to customers worldwide over the last ten years.

Each instrument is made of natural, premium-quality rawhide to ensure the highest standard of craftsmanship and strong sound. After soaking the skin in water it is stretched around the wooden frame. As it dries, the drum’s sound gradually begins to take shape. The combination of the rawhide and the smooth wooden frame gives each drum its unique sound.
The tension of the lacing and the thickness of the rawhide naturally determine how high or low the drum sounds. I do offer custom made drums and designs, please reach out for individual consultation.
